Alan Burnett: Al grew up in Mystic, on the Stonington side, and was introduced to lacrosse in high school at Mount Hermon School in north central Massachusetts. In college at Denison University, he lettered all four years. In his freshman year, Denison was the only undefeated team in the nation and for his four years they dominated the Midwest, and beat the likes of Syracuse, Princeton, North Carolina, and Notre Dame. He was captain his senior year. Al has coached at Northfield Mount Hermon, formerly Mount Hermon, Stonington High School, Fitch High School, and Groton Mystic youth lacrosse, formerly the Seals, starting in 1992.
Leslie Driscoll: Leslie grew up in Longmeadow, MA where she started playing lacrosse at Suffield Academy. She later went on to play lacrosse at St. Bonaventure University (New York) where she completed her degree in elementary education. Leslie received her master’s in administration at Boston College. She is a currently teaching third grade in Ledyard. Leslie has two girls in the program -- Lilly (U11) and Charlotte (U9). This is Leslie’s second year and she loves instilling her love of the sport with upcoming athletes.
David Johnson: Dave graduated from Springfield College with a BS in Physical Education with Coaching Concentration. While at Springfield, he was a four year varsity player in soccer. He was originally recruited to coach lacrosse by Dave Schulz. He has coached youth lacrosse for the past 9 years. He has also been a long-time coach for Groton Soccer. He is a member of the CT State Referee program (Grade Level 8) and a member of the CT Soccer Officials Association. In his "off" seasons, he assigns referees for the Groton Soccer Club and teaches skiing at Okemo Mountain in VT while maintaing his day job!
Theresa Tuthill: In days of old, Theresa played lacrosse with a wooden stick from the Tuscarora Indian reservation. She was co-captain of her University of Rochester team, and served as an Assistant Coach for 6 years during graduate school. While an engineering professor at U. of Dayton, she coached the Women’s Lacrosse club team. Theresa has coached youth lacrosse since 2003, and has kept current (from her days of playing with no boundaries and no goggles) by attending numerous US Lacrosse Coaching clinics.
Brian Sheffer: Assistant lacrosse coach for the past two seasons. Also coached soccer, baseball and softball in Groton.
George Fricke: George Fricke grew up in the historic city of St. Augustine, Florida. In June of 2001, he enlisted in the United States Navy as a Hospital Corpsman. The majority of his 16 year career has been spent with the Marine Corps in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. During which he deployed to Kuwait, Haiti, Iraq and two tours in Afghanistan. While stationed in Jacksonville, Florida, he earned his Associate’s Degree and a teaching certificate from Florida State College of Jacksonville. During his tour in San Antonio, Texas, he continued to work towards a Bachelor’s Degree in History. George and his wife, Christie, along with their two children, Charlie(6) and Amelia(3) recently relocated to Groton from San Antonio, Texas. Chief Petty Officer Fricke is currently stationed at New London Subase where he is enrolled at the Naval Undersea Medical Institute to become a Submarine Independent Duty Corpsman. Throughout the years, he has been a devoted member of the Morocco Shrine Temple of Jacksonville, Florida, supporting crippled and burned children and Shrine Hospitals International. In San Antonio, he was very passionate about his volunteer work with the organization WATCH D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students). As a consistent, positive male role model in children’s lives, he volunteered countless hours to this school-based, father-involvement program to support safety and education. His coaching experience includes assisting with his son’s 5U soccer team for three seasons as well as being the head coach for the Joint Base San Antonio Fort Sam Houston men’s soccer team. This will be his first season as an assistant coach for his son’s lacrosse team. George is honored to be working alongside such an energized and experienced coach lineup. He is looking forward to helping your children develop their lacrosse skills and creating an environment where their self-esteem, communication and social skills, and overall wellness can flourish.
