Welcome to Groton Mystic Lacrosse

Groton Mystic Lacrosse Association is dedicated to providing a safe, fun environment where all players are given the opportunity to learn lacrosse, and build self-esteem and confidence. Players learn to play as a part of a team through participation in games and practices. The organization is open to the youth of Groton, CT and surrounding areas that do not have a youth lacrosse organization.


GMLA is a non-profit 501(c)3 corporation.

GMLA is a member of the Connecticut New York Lacrosse league "CONNY" (http://connylacrosse.org/​)

2023 Pre-Season Training Schedule

GMLA preseason training will be at MIS, Sunday's March 5th – April 16th.  Note the times below as they change the first couple of weeks. 

WEEK 1 Sunday March 5th

HOUR 1 - ALL GIRLS - 3:00 - 4:00

HOUR 2 - ALL BOYS - 4:00 - 5:00

WEEK 2 Sunday March 12th

HOUR 1 – ALL GIRLS – 2:00 – 3:00 

HOUR 2 – Boys U8 & Boys U10  3:00 – 4:00 

HOUR 3 – Boys U12 & Boys U14   4:00 – 5:00 

WEEK 3  Sunday March 19th

HOUR 1 – ALL GIRLS – 8:30 - 9:30

HOUR 2 – Boys U8 & Boys U10  9:30 – 10:30 

HOUR 3 – Boys U12 & Boys U14   10:30 – 11:30 

MYSTIC IRISH PARADE  meet at noon @ south parking lot Mystic Seaport

March 26th, April 2nd, April 16th (NO PRACTICE EASTER SUNDAY 4/9)

GMLA Programs


Spring (League) season

GMLA is excited to announce our 2023 Spring Lacrosse Season. 

  • We will be following all Return to Play guidelines from USA Lacrosse (www.usalacrosse.com/return-play) as well as the guidance and protocols set forth from our towns and schools.  We had a very safe and successful season in 2022, and are looking forward to 2023!

  • We are planning on returning to indoor preseason lacrosse practice at Mystic Indoor Sports. Dates/times are listed above.

 

CONNY League: GMLA participates in the CONNY Lacrosse League.  The 2023 preseason will begin in late Febuary, with outdoor practices and games starting in April and ending by mid-June. Practices are generally held weeknights (2 or 3 times per week) at town fields. Games are generally on Saturday or Sunday afternoons with some games during week nights. All teams will be registered for at least two tournaments. 

 

Age Brackets - GMLA follows the CONNY Age brackets.  For the 2023 Season, the following cut-offs apply.

Equipment needs:

Boys - helmet & shoulder pads (NOCSAE Approved)*, mouth guard, elbow pads, gloves, lacrosse stick, cleats.  Please note all shoulder pads must meet the cardiac/heart guard requirement for 2023.

Girls - goggles (SEI Certified)*, mouth guard, lacrosse stick, cleats [OPTIONAL EQUIPMENT - 
Close-fitting gloves and headgear that meets ASTM standard F3137 are optional and may be worn by all players].

Financial aid for registration fees and loaner equipment is available.  Please contact the GMLA President for details.
